HUMAN TRAFFICKING

Human trafficking – is a crime, which is as profitable as drug or weapon trade, but it doesn’t require much investment or risk. According to experts` evaluation scale of human trafficking in Lithuania is the highest among all Baltic countries.

Being aware of the scale of the problem we take concrete actions to fight against human trafficking in Lithuania, to raise awareness of the society and change stereotype thinking and prejudice towards women and girls, who suffered from human trafficking.

Currently main aims of human trafficking from and within Lithuania are sexual exploitation and prostitution. In our opinion these two phenomena can’t be separated, since most women go into prostitution due to difficult economical situation or violence, which leaves no space for an independent decision. Every women, no matter if she was trafficked or “voluntary” went into prostitution, can’t be accused and deserves complex assistance and help, safe environment and opportunity to choose for a better life.
